Landscape Oil Painting By James Aumonier

£775    $1,050    €913
A fine and interesting oil on canvas landscape painting by James Aumonier 1832-1911. The work is titled ‘On the Fellside’ and depicts a moorland landscape with sheep grazing as the sunlight hits the hills in the distance. The painting has a wonderful sense of time and place, worked in a technique that has a feeling of Impressionism. The piece is in excellent untouched condition and signed to the lower right as well as titled on the frame. James Aumonier (1832–1911) was an English landscape painter born in Camberwell, London in 1832. He became associate of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-colours in 1876, and was one of the original members of the Institute of Oil Painters.
