Amy Barbaro (nee Amy Dawnon) (born Newcastle in 1867) married Giovanni Barbaro on the 10th December 1897 in Rome.
She was recorded as being an artist and he as being a retired courier.
Giovanni (1854-1915) was born in Italy and his Egyptian Paintings are highly regarded.
I was for many year thought that it was he who used the A (Arthur) Dudley pseudonym. (Hence the old label attached to the frame.) Latterly, research by family members reveal that it was Amy who used the name (Ranchi Art & Books).
She exhibited 8 times in the name of Arthur Dudley at the Royal Academy. She also Exhibited 3 times att the RBA and was mentioned in Whybrow''s 1883-1900 List of Artists In and Around St Ives.
As her husband, she also painted Egyptian scenes under her own name, Amy Barbaro. A couple of these have been auctioned in the USA achieving $12,000.
She died in 1937 at the age of 70.
