Description

New Hall porcelain cream jug, pattern 20, c. 1790. The clip handled helmet jug, set upon a circular pedestal base. Hand painted in Chinese famille rose enamel style, with a scene of figures in a garden, one holding a parasol, the other flying a kite.

Height – 10.5 cm, 4 1/8”.

Width (Handle to spout) – 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”.

Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.

This Georgian New Hall porcelain cream jug dates to around 1790 and follows Pattern 20. The white porcelain vessel takes the form of a clip-handled helmet jug set upon a circular pedestal base, finished with a high lip and an angled handle. Hand-painted enamels in bright red, blue, green, and pink decorate the body with a scene of figures in a garden, including one holding a parasol and another flying a kite, alongside floral motifs and an interior rim border. Standing 10.5 cm in height with a width of 11.5 cm from handle to spout, the piece displays no damage or restoration. Today, this delicate antique item makes a decorative addition displayed on a sideboard top in a traditional dining room or living space.
