Owen Bowen "Sandsend from Upgang", Yorkshire Oil on Canvas

Description

This is a good early example of the work of Owen Bowen, an important member of the Staithes Group of Painters. It is inscribed on the reverse in a later hand "SANDSEND FROM UPGANG" showing a good distant view of this ever popular area of the Yorkshire Coastline.

Bowen lived between 1873 and 1967 and exhibited widely at galleries including The Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and many others.

The painting measures 14"x 21" and is in fine original condition. It is signed and dated 1920 lower left, dating it from the artist's best period.
