A RARE PAIR OF CONTINENTAL FACTORY EUWERS DEPICTING A BATTLE SCENE C1880
On offer is a huge pair of crafted 19th century German salt glazed stoneware Ewers attributed to S. P. Gerz, produced in the Westerwald region during the late 19th century.

The Westerwald region has been a centre of German stoneware since the 17th century, and S. P. Gerz became one of its best-known manufacturers, producing high-quality steins, ewers and jugs noted for their crisp relief and distinctive salt-glazed finish. This example reflects the firm’s characteristic craftsmanship, with sharply defined modelling and an elegantly formed handles.

These striking and substantial antique Ewers stand as a strong example of 19th century German salt glaze work, offering both decorative presence and historical interest to collectors of European ceramics.

These Salt Glaze Ewers are quite usable and would complement the interior of most residences each decorated with a battle scene in relief telling a story. having pictorial battle scenes 360 degrees around the body of each vase.

Condition
They are both in perfect condition and are extremely well detailed from top to bottom.
These Ewers are very rare survivors from the late 19th Century ( 1870-91880 ) period in this huge form and would be hard to replace or find around in today’s market.
