Oil Painting Still Life Charles Thomas Bale

Charles Thomas Bale (fl. 1866-1892)

This is a most acomplished oil painting on canvas by Charles Thomas Bale. The well executed painting is a still life depicting a colourful arrangement of game, fruit and a green flagon on a wooden table.

The painting is framed in very attractive later gilt frame with red velvet slip which suits it admirably.

The painting is initialled by the artist and measures 29cm by 18.5cm. It measures including the frame. It is in excellent condition.

Charles Thomas Bale specialised in the still life genre. In 1872 he exhibited at both the Royal Academy and the Society of British Artists in Suffolk Street. He was a prolific artist, painting hundreds of still lifes with various combinations of fruit, flowers, birds' nests, game, silver and earthenware jugs.
