A charming and finely executed early 19th-century portrait miniature depicting a handsome gentleman, skilfully hand-painted with excellent attention to detail and character.

The miniature appears to be painted on card or a similar material, although the frame has not been opened to confirm. The portrait remains housed behind its original glass in an elegant gilt-metal frame, featuring a beautifully detailed machine-turned oval backplate and an engraved surround.

The piece is further enhanced with a swivel-hinged suspension ring, allowing it to be displayed or worn in the traditional manner. Rich in Georgian elegance and period charm, this is a wonderful example of the intimate portrait miniatures that were so popular during the early 1800s.
