This Georgian Sheraton work table is fashioned from mahogany, satinwood and boxwood, displaying a warm brown timber finish with light boxwood stringing along the square tapered legs, drawer perimeter and lower undertier. The piece incorporates a single crossbanded drawer fitted with a central keyhole escutcheon and key, above an open concave lower shelf supported by slender legs with terminating feet. The structure measures 75 cm high, 42 cm wide and 32 cm deep, offering a compact footprint suited to domestic interiors. Such a side table functions practically as an end-of-sofa surface or a compact occasional stand in a living room, study or bedroom. The clean lines and classical neoclassical geometry suit traditional English country house settings and period rooms, while the elevated storage drawer provides discreet storage for small daily items. The lower shelf offers additional display space for books or decorative objects.

Named after the eighteenth-century designer Thomas Sheraton, these tables feature slender proportions, straight lines, tapered legs, and delicate marquetry or stringing inlay, originally crafted for needlework or writing.

Craftsmen typically utilised dense solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, accented with boxwood, satinwood, or rosewood crossbanding, alongside hand-dovetailed drawer joints and solid brass ironmongery.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, original brass escutcheons, hand-cut dovetails inside drawers, and light, refined geometric silhouettes rather than heavy, ornate carving.

Position the piece as an accent side table beside a sofa, within an entryway alcove, or as a bedside table, pairing its refined mahogany tones with neutral soft furnishings.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading.
