Still Life Oil Painting Pear Blossom by Faith Kenworthy Brown

A fine still life oil on artist board by Faith Kenworthy Brown (1882-1973) titled 'Pear Blossom'. The work depicts a classic still life arrangement of pear blossom complemented by the blues of the Chinese ceramics. The painting is worked very much in the Impressionist manner with emphasis on light and colour, with a use of broad brushstrokes and thick paint. The work does not appear to be signed but retains the original exhibition labels to the reverse with all the artist’s information. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The frame is the original and a superb quality example almost certainly by the great Bourlet and is also in excellent condition. Faith Kenworthy-Brown is listed as a portrait, landscape and poster artist. She studied at Sir Arthur Cope's School and the London School of Art, and she later became art teacher at St. Alban's College in Saskatchewan, Canada. She exhibited widely including the Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and several others. The whole is in ready to hang condition and the combination of artwork and frame make a great decorative impact. C.1930.
