Rams Head Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
This style originated in South America. The style of painting first started appearing in Peru but these images were widespread throughout the Andes, in places such as La Paz, Bolivia, as far as Argentina and in the late 19th century into the 20th across Europe as well. Representing celestial, aristocratic, and military beings all at once.

The painting is generally in very good condition on canvas mounted onto a board. There is a little craqueleur as can be seen in the photos but overall it’s in good order. The colours are strong and vibrant and has bright gilt highlights.
The heavy period Spanish frame has a wonderful rich gilding and nice antique patina.
The frame measures 85 cms by 65 cms by 9 cms in depth.
