Albert Edward Jackson was a London-born painter and illustrator active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He studied at the Camden School of Art, where he gained recognition for his draughtsmanship and technical ability, reportedly winning both gold and silver medals during his training.
Jackson worked across both fine art and commercial illustration. Alongside exhibiting paintings, he became a successful illustrator of classic literary works in the early 20th century, contributing to editions of Gulliver’s Travels (1914), Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1915), and Robinson Crusoe (1921). His illustration work demonstrates strong narrative clarity and refined detail.
As a painter, Jackson is best known for floral still lifes, domestic interiors, and pastoral subjects. His style is realistic and carefully composed, often
... featuring rich tonal backgrounds and vibrant colour harmonies, particularly in pinks, purples and muted blues.
He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1901 and also showed work with the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), confirming his position within the exhibiting London art scene of the period.
