Description

William Frank Calderon (1865-1943) was a portrait, landscape, figure and sporting painter. Son of Philip Hermongenes Calderon, he studied at the Slade School and was Founder and Principal of the School of Animal Painting in 1894 – 1916. He became a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1891. In 1936 he published ‘Animal Paint and Anatomy’.

He exhibited at: Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham 9, Fine Art Society 8, Glasgow 1, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool 22, Royal Society of Portrait Painters 10, Royal Academy 61, Royal Society of British Artists, London 3, Royal Hibernian Academy 6, Royal Institute of Oil Painters 9.

"The Old Stable" is a lovely oil on panel measuring 8" x 12". It is signed lower right and is framed giving an overall size of 12"x 16".
