Japanese Meiji (late 19thC) bronze running boar by Hideyama. Signed on the belly. 15cm high x 27cm long x 7cm deep, weight 2.85kg.

Excellent condition

The boar is the 12th animal in the Japanese (Chinese) Zodiac, symbolizing honesty, kindness, and diligence, with associated years like 1995, 2007, 2019, and the next in 2031, each linked to one of the five elements (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, Earth) that modify personality traits, making them loyal, optimistic, and sometimes naive individuals, known for being generous and good-natured.
