Robert F. Watson (fl: 1845-1876) A gilt framed Oil painting on panel, signed and dated 1876. “Highland Cattle under heavy Skies“. It depicts a small herd of Highland cattle amongst rocks, grassland and mountains in the background, with birds flying and heavy skies overhead.

Dimensions: 27 cm x 32 cm. (Frame 40 x 45 cm)

Dated: 1876

About the artist – Robert F. Watson. Other similar works by the same artist include mountain scenes with both sheep and cattle. He is also known to have painted landscape and marine paintings, specialising in coastal views mainly in Northern England and Scotland. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and others from 1845-1866. This painting is signed and dated ’76 lower right corner. Watson died in 1921.
