Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

South Indian bronze casting reached its zenith during the Chola dynasty and continued through subsequent periods, producing sacred representations of Hindu deities for both temple worship and private devotion. These figures were crafted using classical iconometric guidelines known as the Shilpa Shastras.

These sculptures were made using the cire perdue, or lost-wax, technique where a solid wax model was coated in clay, melted out, and replaced with molten metal. Traditional alloys often included panchaloha, a sacred five-metal combination typically comprising copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver.

Authentic pieces demonstrate hand-finished surface details, precise iconographical attributes, and natural wear patterns on high-relief areas. Dark surface oxidisation, soft contours from centuries of ritual handling, and solid casting weight further indicate age.

A dark bronze deity sculpture functions well as a focal point on a mantelpiece, console table, or within an curated bookcase niche. Pairing the metallic texture against light backdrops or alongside hardwood surfaces creates visual contrast.

Dust the sculpture regularly with a dry, soft-bristled brush or clean microfibre cloth to prevent dirt build-up in detailed areas. Avoid using liquid polishes, abrasive materials, or chemical solvents that could strip the original aged patina or natural oxidisation.
