Description

David Woodlock 1852-1929.Figure and landscape and garden painter.Lived in Liverpool,Sheffield and Leamington Spa,Warks.He was a a key figure in the development of a distinct school of Liverpool painters.He produced some truly beautiful cottage scenes and views of Venice.He was a founder member and later President of the Liver Sketching Club and also a member of the Liverpool Academy of Arts.He developed an individualistic style of watercolour painting where the bleeding together of colours often produced dramatic results.Exhibited 17 works at RA ,but principally at the Walker Art Gallery where he showed 118 works. ‘ Boy feeding his pet rabbits in front of Thatched Cottage’ signed watercolour,image size 24x30 cmsframed size 43.5x49 cms.Original gilt frames
