Superb Landscape Oil Painting of Pedn Vounder Beach, Cornwall by Albert Starling 1858-1947

A superb large landscape oil on canvas of Pedn Vounder Beach in Cornwall by Albert Starling 1858-1947. The work exquisitely depicts a view down onto the beach at low tide, on a beautiful clear summers day with a single figure walking the cliff path for scale. The painting is worked in wonderful detail with a lightness of touch that exactly depicts a hazy summers day. The work is in excellent untouched condition having only had a light clean. The painting is signed to the lower left but not dated. Albert Starling was born in Hastings in 1858 and died in 1947 in Sutton, Surrey. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1882-1903 and also at most other major English galleries including the Royal Society of British Artist, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester city galleries, he continued to exhibit until 1922. He mainly painted marine pictures and studies of fishermen in a realist style, although he was also a successful portraitist. This particular work is of a size and scale that it must certainly have been one of his exhibited works. The painting is in the original fine quality gilt frame which has had some old repair in the top right had corner. The whole is a stunning piece of landscape art with a huge amount of decorative appeal. C.1900.
