The sharply pointed peak in the background, along with the wide river curve, identifies the scene as the River Glaslyn near Beddgelert, with the distinctive Cnicht (“the Welsh Matterhorn”) rising in the distance.
This is classic Syer: intricate tree textures, warm foreground tonality, and a strong sense of early Victorian romanticism.
