We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Church pews and settles originated in medieval times as communal seating, evolving from simple wooden benches into enclosed, high-backed structures designed to protect occupants from draughts in stone buildings.

Authentic pieces are predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak or pine, utilising traditional joinery methods like mortise and tenon joints, tongue-and-groove panelling, and hand-carved detailing.

Authentication involves examining the timber for period-appropriate tool marks, natural patina, shrinkage cracks, and construction techniques consistent with nineteenth-century cabinet making rather than modern mass production.

An antique church pew makes a striking statement in a hallway, entryway, or along a large dining table, balancing heavy historical character with minimalist modern decor and soft textiles.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber.
