Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Doulton Lambeth stoneware refers to art pottery produced at Doultons factory in Lambeth, London, primarily between the late 19th century and early 20th century. Collaborations with the Lambeth School of Art led to hand-decorated, salt-glazed wares featuring detailed incised, relief, and beaded embellishments.

These vessels are crafted from high-firing stoneware clay that is thrown or moulded before hand decoration is applied. Salt glazing involves throwing common salt into the kiln at peak temperature, causing a chemical reaction that creates a hard, glass-like coating with a subtle orange-peel texture.

Authentic pieces feature impressed factory backstamps on the base, often including the Doulton Lambeth oval logo, year mark digits, design pattern numbers, and incised initials or monograms of the individual artists and assistants who decorated the piece.

A Victorian stoneware jug works well as a decorative focal point on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or within open kitchen shelving. Its earthy tones and geometric relief work contrast effectively against modern muted paint shades and contemporary timber finishes.

Clean salt-glazed stoneware by hand using warm water and mild liquid detergent applied with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive scrubbers, harsh chemical cleaners, or submersion in dishwashers, as these can strip remaining cold paint or damage delicate raised slip work.
