McTague of Harrogate has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It is a charming atmospheric watercolour measuring 11"x 15".
It is signed and dated 1893 and is contained in it's original wood frame with a later bevelled mount inscribed with the title "At the Close of Day."
Walker was a highly regarded artist who after working as a coach painter in his native Bradford later taught art then travelled widely painting landscapes and the countryside around him. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute, Liverpool and many other local Galleries. His work is in collections worldwide.
We also have other watercolours by Walker which we bought directly from the family of the artist so they have the best possible provenance.
