Antique Mahal Carpet

Description

A rare and lovely sky blue grey background on this antique Mahal carpet, with beautiful gold tones used for the abstract palmettes and floral red border.   Woven with a Mahal weave in the area of Sultanabad, Persia - this piece was hand-created around 1880-1890 and with this we can see some lower areas of pile height.  No holes, rips or tears and structurally in great order.  Wear and fading over the last 140 years leave us with a very handsome carpet, which has an amazing colour palette, which would be easy to place in already finished interior or build a scheme around.  An unusual size too, narrower than normal most carpets this length are much wider.

We offer a professional home visit service, having visited customers in their own homes all over the UK for over 30 years. We feel it is vital to view carpets and rugs at home, so you can make the ideal choice, trying various options in a room. A free and no obligation service we have offered since 1990.
