Lee Wright Antiques & Interiors Ltd has dated this Regency Oak Dumb Waiter to the 19th Century.
Derived from the French étagère this is essentially a pair of standing shelves. Constructed in oak with fabulous figure and colour.
Each tier has a deep tray moulding to three edges, the top has shaped and moulded central decorative elements which act as caps to the end supports. At their bases, the end supports terminate in short platforms with carved ornament and reeded bun feet. It has obvious similarities with certain Gillows pieces and, given its quality, it is possible that it was made in their workshops.
