Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Cairo ware kursi table is an Islamic furniture form developed primarily in 19th-century Egypt, inspired by Mamluk metalwork traditions. Characterised by intricate brass construction with silver and copper metal inlay, these octagonal or hexagonal stands were historically crafted to hold religious manuscripts such as the Quran.

Cairo ware pieces are constructed from solid brass or copper sheet metal. The decorative surface decoration is achieved through hand-chased Arabic calligraphy, openwork geometric piercing, and cold-hammered silver and copper wire inlay.

Authentic period Cairo ware displays intricate hand-engraved Thuluth or Kufic script along with geometric arabesques. Look for genuine metallic silver inlay embedded into recessed channels, minor hand-hammering irregularities, and heavy gauge metal construction with natural oxidation in undisturbed crevices.

An antique kursi table serves as an architectural accent piece in reading nooks, hallways, or living rooms. Its detailed metalwork creates a striking tactile contrast alongside understated contemporary upholstery, warm timber, or minimalist stonework.

Maintain brass and silver-inlaid metalwork by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive liquid metal polishes or harsh chemical solvents, as these can strip delicate silver inlay wires and remove the historic aged patina.
