Rare Alexander Wright / Westminster Stick Barometer. Circa 1900.High quality Fortin Stick Barometer, carrying the Alexander Wright name (No. 585). Scripted / engraved to reverse of top barometer section. Known as Standard Barometer (Fortin). Extremely rare in original and untouched condition. Full original mercury reservoir. Barometer based on Fortin''s* principle, verified by Kew. Beautifully housed within original ebonised / black and glazed opening cupboard, with ceramic light reflective inserts. Three Latches And Mounts At The Top And Bottom. Please discuss delivery options (this item contains mercury).*Nicolas Fortin (1750-1831) designed a cylindrical glass reservoir with a leather bottom. With a screw and the leather bottom they managed the mercury level. With a pen in the reservoir the mercury was placed at the tip of the pins which resulted in the zero point of the barometer.
