David Woodlock 1852-1929.Figure,landscape and garden painter.Born in Ireland.Lived in Liverpool,Sheffield and Leamington.Warks.He was a key figure in the development of a distinct school of Liverpool painters.He produced some truly beautiful cottage scenes and views of Venice.
He was a founder member and later President of the the Liver Sketching Club and also a member of the Liverpool Academy of Arts.He developed an individualistic style of watercolour painting where the bleeding together of colours often produced dramatic results.Exhibited 17 works at the RA but principally at the Walker Art Gallery,Liverpool where he showed 118 works. This is a particularly attractive example of the artists work. ‘At the Cottage Door ‘ signed watercolour,image size 34.5x17.5 cms ,framed size 54x35.5 cms.
