Impressive oil painting by the Edinburgh born artist James Campbell Noble. There is a label that is included with the painting that gives some information on the artist however there is more on line. There are 3 other stickers on the back of the frame giving more information like who bought it and why and also information on some damage and when, this is all perfect provenance. This painting is likely to be of Dordrecht Harbour in the Netherlands as the artist frequently travelled and painted this part of Europe. Like all antiques there are some imperfections however nothing to the painting and the frame is solid. An outstanding oil painting by a accomplished Scottish painter with a beautifully ornate gilt frame. This attractive statement piece with its atmospheric subject and provenance attached will attract much attention from your guests.
