Rowland Henry Hill 1873-1962.Landscape and figure painter in oil and watercolour.Born in Halifax and studied at Bradford School of Art and Herkomer School Bushey.Exhibited 21 works at RA from 1897,in the provinces and at the Paris Salon.Lived at Hinderwell near Staithes.Hill was a leading member of the Staithes School of Artists. ‘Fountains Abbey,near Ripon North Yorkshire’ signed watercolour,dated 1909 inscribed

‘Fountains Abbey’ image size35x45 cms ,framed size 50x60 cms.A desirable early example of the artists work when he employed a more muted palette than his later works.Houses in a quality painted wood and gilded frame.
