18th Century "Italianate" Oil Painting on Panel

Description

An interesting and somewhat ‘speculative’ 18th century OIL PAINTING on wooden panel, which depicts a typical capriccio “Italianate” scene of a couple relaxing beside a classical ruined temple, with a lake before them and a town behind and mountains in the far distance. Very well composed and painted ~ with impasto leaves to the trees to the foreground. It retains its original 18th century carved frame in rather good condition. Signed and dated 1741 ~ the signature is difficult to read although should be identifiable with research. Needs a clean! DIMENSIONS, Including the frame: 30 X 36ins.
