Percy Lancaster "The Cottage Gate" Watercolour

1920 - 1940
Description

Percy Lancaster (1878-1951) was a landscape and genre painter and etcher, born in Manchester. He originally trained as an architect, but turned to art and attended Southport School of Art. He exhibited widely, especially at the RI, RBA, Walker's Galleries and RCamA. Medici Society prints were made of his pictures, which are in public galleries in Manchester, Oldham, Preston and Rochdale. Lived in Southport.    

"The Cottage Gate" is a lovely example. A watercolour measuring 13" x 9" is is mounted and framed giving an overall size of 22"x 18". It is signed lower right with a monogram.
