Presented in a period French frame marked with the collector’s stamp “Robert Mond”. Sir Robert Mond and his Prussian born father were pre-eminent art collectors of the Victorian era.
There is a substantial amount of information available relating to the Margravine and Robert Mond’s collections are well documented, so further research may prove enlightening.

Condition.
The canvas has been lined and mounted on a replacement stretcher. One or two touch-ups to the background area, mild craquelure to the paint surface, otherwise in good sound condition. The carved frame is pleasantly time worn and has minor nibbles and abrasions.
