This nineteenth-century Anglo-Indian colonial side table is formed from dark brown padouk wood with brass hardware. The piece serves as a small teapoy stand with a rectangular hinged box top decorated with foliate carving, rosettes, and floral motifs, accompanied by a spindle gallery beneath, a turned column shaft, and an ornate carved tripod base ending in paw feet. Visible details include grain variation in the timber top, brass hinges on the box, and intricate relief work across the surfaces. The table measures 81 cm high, 36 cm wide, and 25 cm deep. It functions as a compact display stand in a gentleman's library, hallway, or empty corner.

A teapoy is a small piece of furniture supported on a central tripod or pedestal base, designed specifically for holding and storing tea leaves during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Colonial teapoys were frequently constructed from native hardwoods such as padouk, rosewood, or teak, featuring detailed hand carving, turned pedestals, and zinc- or tin-lined interior compartments.

Authentic Anglo-Indian teapoys display characteristic hand-carved floral or foliate motifs, hand-dovetailed joints, dense native hardwoods, and hinged lids revealing interior tea compartments.

An antique teapoy serves as a distinct functional accent piece in a reading nook, positioned beside an armchair, or placed in an alcove as an occasional drinks table.

Preserve the original finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying high-grade beeswax polish annually, avoiding damp environments and direct heat sources.
