Grand Tour Medici Lions

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Cella

Interesting, probably late 18th century Grand Tour patinated bronze reductions of the Medici Lions now situated in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. Lovely patina with typically distressed patination often seen on bronzes from the eighteenth century. The well cast bronzes depict two standing male lions with a sphere under one paw, looking slightly to the side. Unusually the two tails have been cast seperately. Mounted on a later faded marble block bases.
