George Baxter (1804-1867) patented a process of colour printing in 1835. This process made up his life’s work, producing many illustrations for books and stand-alone prints. The quality of his prints reflects the techniques he invented and refined, whilst the subject matter reflected much that was noteworthy in Victorian life.
