Description

This charming early 20th-century oil painting by Danish artist C Sørensen depicts an arrangement of trollius with a vase, tea cup and books.

Little is known about C Sørensen, which is unusual given their evident skill. They worked predominantly during the 1930s and produced numerous interior scenes and occasional still lifes.

The light here is particularly well observed - note the subtle reflection of a window deftly rendered inside the teacup.

Signed in the lower right and held within a gilt frame.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Overall size: 23½” x 22” / 60cm x 56cm

Year of creation: c. 1930

Provenance: Private collection, Denmark.

Condition: Assessed and approved by our conservator. Cleaned. Fine and settled craquelure. The paint layer is stable.
