Image size: 12.75” by 16.5” (32.5cm x 42cm)

William George Jennings was, in the words of John Constable, with whom he shared a house, described ‘Old Jennings’ as a gentleman amateur, although Constable’s confidence was greatly enhanced by Je
...nning’s patronage. His earlier topographical work reflects the style of Joseph Farringdon and Richard Wilson, however Constable became a great influence on his work during the 1820’s. Jennings exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1797 and 1806, and at the Society of British Artists in 1830.
