An abstracted, light cubist nude dating from circa 1960 by French artist Claude Roederer (1924-1988). Roederer was a painter, designer illustrator and decorator who was linked to the surrealist movement, close to Christian Bérard. Having studied with art deco master Paul Colin and Roger Chapelain-Midi, he taught at the Académie Julien in the 1960s, before founding his own art school, the Académie Roederer, on Place des Voges in Paris.
Roederer was a member of the Salon d''Automne from 1959 onwards and exhibited with the National Society of Fine Arts , the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon Comparaisons.
He had one man shows in Auvers-sur-Oise , Bordeaux , Cognac and Nantes as well as in New York and Philadelphia. Works by the artists are in collections of the Fine Arts Museum of Bordeaux and the French National Contemporary Art Fund.
Our jewel coloured oil on canvas measures 30 x 60 cm and is signed at the lower right. It has various annotations to the verso, notably the title ''Le fièvreuse''. The painting is presented in its original artist strip frame.
