A superb watercolour in the tradition of Victorian fairy painting by Arthur H Buckland 1870-1948. The two fairy children are seen sitting on blossom as they ring the harebells with silken threads. The quality of the work is quite superb, the fairies are beautifully depicted and, in such detail, and so technically well observed that they really do look as if they could move. It is very much in the tradition of fairy painting that thrived in the Victorian period though from a slightly later date. The whole is in untouched condition with some odd minor marks and the colours are as fresh and true as the day it was painted. The unusual frame is also the original and in excellent untouched condition. The work is signed to the lower right and dated: ‘Arthur H Buckland, 1929’.
