A fine and large bronze bust of Napoleon on a sienna marble base.

An impressive bust of exceptional quality and patina. Signed to the underside by the French firm of V Lesqurieux & M Fedide of Paris.

After a model by Jean-Antoine Houdon.

French, circa 1870.

Jean-Antoine Houdon was a French neoclassical sculptor. Houdon is famous for his portrait busts and statues or philosophers, inventors, and political figures of the enlightenment.

Houdon’s original art is displayed in various museums including ‘Madame Houdon’ after a model by Jean-Antoine Houdon, at the Louvre Museum in France.
