Aubrey Claud Davidson-Houston
Painter and draughtsman, born in Dublin Ireland 1906 (died 1995) into a military family.
While a prisoner of war in Germany for five years made drawings of 600 fellow-prisoners. Upon retirement in 1949 Davidson-Houston studied at Slade School of Fine Art with William Coldstream for three years. Attended St Martin’s School of Art part-time and worked for a time with Sir Gerald Kelly. Davidson-Houston was noted as a portrait painter, exhibiting at RP, NS, RCamA, RSA and at Paris Salon. Had a solo show at Walker’s Galleries. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was among his subjects and his works are held by several members of the royal family. Lived in Esher, Surrey, with a studio in London.
