These two urn stands belong to the Chinese Export style of the 1920 period. Each piece uses dark brown rosewood and rouge marble, showing a polished timber finish alongside pink and white stone surfaces. The design includes circular inset marble tops set inside lobed frames with carved edges. Below the tops sit pierced aprons depicting foliage and bamboo plants. The shaped cabriole legs curve outwards and downwards to pointed feet, connecting together through a central carved X-stretcher. The timber shows warm brown tones with darker grain variations, while the stone displays natural mottled patterns in shades of red and white. Each stand measures 48 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 40 cm deep. These plant stands suit placement within an empty corner of a gentleman's library or a living room. The small footprint allows them to fit easily beside seating furniture or against a wall to display decorative objects, small sculptures, or table lamps. The sturdy construction provides a stable surface for everyday placement while adding traditional character to an interior setting.

Originating primarily during the Qing Dynasty and continuing into the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these stands were designed to elevate decorative ceramics, bronze vessels, or bonsai trees within traditional homes.

They are typically crafted from dense oriental hardwoods such as rosewood or hongmu, assembled using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and fitted with inset tops of natural marble or granite.

Authentic pieces feature crisp hand-carving along the apron and legs, natural timber shrinkage around the marble inset perimeter, heavy timber density, and an absence of modern mechanical fasteners.

Position them symmetrically alongside a console table, place them in an empty corner to display sculptural greenery, or use them as unique occasional tables in a contemporary living space.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid placing the stands near radiators to prevent timber shrinkage, and wipe marble surfaces promptly to prevent moisture staining.
