Ernest Higgins Rigg "Sunnybrae, Swaledale" Oil on Panel

1900 - 1920
Description

Born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1868, Rigg studied at Bradford College of Art then at the renowned Académie Julian in Paris. His attractive open air scenes were in the manner of French late nineteenth century painting. He exhibited at RA, RBA, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and elsewhere, working in many parts of England. He was a prominent member of the Staithes Group and later lived for a time in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

"Sunnybrae, Low Row" is a charming oil painting on panel, signed lower left. It shows the garden in Swaledale, Yorkshire and is framed in a gilt frame giving an overall size of 18"x 15".
