An oil on canvas portrait of a lady by Gertrude Hindle. The portrait has a wonderful feeling of peace and calm and I suspect it is a self-portrait of the artist. The work is signed and dated 1938 to the lower right. Gertrude Hindle is recorded as exhibiting between 1919 and 1923 at The London Salon and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, she trained at the Herkomer School of Art and lived in Eltham, London. The work is in excellent untouched condition and retains the original painted frame.
