Skippings Fine Arts has dated this piece to the 1910s.
She participated in the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900, where she obtained the bronze medal, with her painting Chanson. She also exhibited at the Salons des Indépendants of 1902 and 1903. While Irène initially worked in the academic tradition, in our painting, dating from the early 20th Century, she has truly found her own voice and is free from the influence of her academic teachers. It is a very sensitive, modern and personal work.
