This large Napoleonic gilt eagle sculpture dates from around 1810 in the Regency period and follows the French Empire style. The piece shows a majestic spread eagle with detailed carved feathers and out-swept wings, perched on a black-painted cast iron bar with gilded finial ends. The sculpture rests upon a later nineteenth-century rectangular red marble plinth.
