Oil on canvas painting of an old man smiling or chatting. A lovely example of character painting beautifully observed and captured. It is a work typical of the Newlyn School and is most likely a period copy of a Newlyn work. The piece is signed by monogram to the lower right and dated 1897. The canvas has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The gilt frame is the original though it has been overgilt at some point.
