Victorian Oil Portrait of a Lady

A charming Victorian period oil on copper portrait of a lady. The lady is shown sitting at a table, holding a book. There are some lovely details in the flowers on the table and the lady’s lace bonnet and yellow silk shawl. The quality of the work is evident though some areas are slightly naïve in manner suggesting a provincial origin. The painting is in excellent untouched condition having been cleaned some time ago it would appear. The gilt frame is most likely the original though it has had some areas of restoration. The whole has a great period look and is ready to hang. C.1850.
