A fine and charming oil on canvas floral still life painting by Anne Davidson Muir (1875–1951). The work is title on the reverse: ‘Anemones and Love-in-the-mist’ with the flowers being arranged in a blue and white vase. The technique is very detailed and confident with a lovely use of colour. The work is in good untouched condition and retains the Paisley Art Institute exhibition label on the reverse. The frame is the original and of a fine quality with a bronzed finish. The painting is signed to the lower right: ‘Anne D Muir’.Anne Davidson Muir (1875-1951) was a painter of flowers and portraits, born in Hawick, Roxburghshire. She was educated at George Watson’s Ladies College, Edinburgh, and later studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and Heriot-Watt College Art School, her teachers including John Campbell Mitchell and James Riddel.
