Artist and signature: Unsigned but manner of ,and very likely to have been painted by John Ward Knowles (1838–1931) who was a prominent British York-based stained-glass manufacturer and commentator on local art and music. (acquired with other pieces of artwork signed, attributed to this artist)

Depiction or Location: York Street Study. College Street looking towards Goodramgate (buildings on the RHS now demolished)
