‘A Peep at the Channel, Sussex’ Landscape Oil Painting

A charming oil on canvas landscape scene titled ‘A peep at the Channel, Sussex’. The painting shows a scene on the Sussex downs as they roll to the sea with sheep grazing in a field and the sea seen in the far distance. The work is competently done and is signed to the lower right ‘Gray’ with a date somewhat rubbed that looks to be in the 1880’s. The painting has not been cleaned and has a tiny old repair as seen on the canvas at the back. The piece is mounted in a period slip with modern frame of which all is in good condition. The whole has a great charming period look and is ready to hang. C.1880.
